Mission Bay School PTA
Mission Bay School PTA brings families, educators, and community partners together to support every student, strengthen family-school connections, and provide inclusive programs, resources, and experiences that advance children's education and well-being.
We are a volunteer-led local unit of California State PTA and National PTA serving the Mission Bay School community in San Francisco. Mission Bay School PTA is a separate organization from Mission Bay School and the San Francisco Unified School District. PTA funds are governed by PTA members and officers under the PTA's bylaws, member-approved budget, and applicable California State PTA requirements.
Mission Bay School PTA accepts charitable contributions to support educational resources, student and family programs, community-building activities, and the responsible operation of the PTA. Unless a campaign expressly states otherwise, donations support the PTA's general charitable purposes and member-approved budget and are not restricted to a particular student, classroom, item, or program. No family's access to PTA or school programs depends on whether or how much they contribute.
Tax-exempt status
Mission Bay School PTA is recognized as tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) as a subordinate organization covered by the California State PTA group exemption. EIN: 424132558. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Unless otherwise stated, no goods or services are provided in exchange for a contribution.

Donation, refund, and cancellation policy
Donations are generally final. If a donation was duplicated, entered incorrectly, or made without authorization, contact us within 30 days of the transaction. We will review the request promptly, and approved refunds will be returned through the original payment method when available. Please contact us before initiating a payment dispute so that we can investigate and attempt to resolve the issue; this does not limit any rights provided by a card issuer or applicable law.
Recurring donors may modify or cancel future donations using the link provided in their Givebutter receipt or by contacting us. Cancellation applies to future charges and does not automatically refund donations already processed. Optional tips paid to Givebutter are received by Givebutter, not Mission Bay School PTA, and questions about those tips should be directed to Givebutter.
Privacy
Mission Bay School PTA collects only the information reasonably needed to process donations, issue receipts, maintain required financial records, and communicate with supporters who request updates. Online payments are processed through Givebutter and its payment providers; Mission Bay School PTA does not receive or store complete payment-card numbers. We do not sell donor personal information or publicly identify donors without their permission. Access to donor information is limited to authorized PTA officers and volunteers who need it to perform an assigned role.

The School
Mission Bay School is a public SFUSD school on Owens Street, opened in August 2026 after the neighbourhood spent more than two decades asking for one. Until it opened, families here travelled to Daniel Webster in Potrero Hill or Bessie Carmichael in SoMa. It opens with Pre-K, TK and Kindergarten and adds a grade each year, reaching about 550 students from Pre-K through 5th grade by 2032.
The building was designed for the way young children actually spend a day: light-filled classrooms, a library that looks out over the yard, and outdoor space in the middle of a neighbourhood that had very little of it.

Monette Benitez
She cut the ribbon on August 6, 2026 and leads the school through its founding year. See the opening.

Programs
TK and Kindergarten
The elementary school opened with Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten in 2026-27 and adds a grade each year, reaching a full TK-5 by 2032. It follows SFUSD's core curriculum.
Pre-Kindergarten
A dedicated early-education program on the same site, running 8:00am to 5:30pm on contracted hours, with its own application track through SFUSD Early Education.
The Mission Bay Hub
The fourth floor houses a linked learning program for high school students from across the district, preparing for careers in health and bioscience and working with local partners in those fields. UCSF, which transferred this land to SFUSD in 2022, is one of them. The Hub is district-wide and runs outside the elementary school day. More on SFUSD's site ↗
