Reading Together at Home
- Reading the same book for the tenth time builds real confidence with a story. Go ahead and read it again.
- Let them "read" a familiar book from memory. Retelling a story they know by heart is early reading practice.
- Before you turn the page, ask what they think happens next. Guessing builds comprehension.
- Point at the pictures as often as the words. At this age the pictures carry a lot of the story.
