Every Day

Daily Information

The school day, the way in and out, meals, and what belongs in a backpack. Wednesday finishes early every week, which is the detail most worth remembering.

Hours

Bell Schedule

DaysHours
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday7:50am – 2:05pm
WednesdayEarly dismissal every week7:50am – 12:50pm

Pre-K runs 8:00am – 5:30pm. Pre-K families have contracted hours. Drop off and pick up within your contracted window, since going outside it puts your contract at risk.

As of August 10, 2026. Details can change. The school's own emails and ParentVUE are the final word.

Coming and going

Drop-off and Pick-up

Drop-off

  • The school yard opens at 7:30am for early drop-off.
  • Students enter through the main entrance on Owens Street.
  • Staff are curbside to welcome students and point them the right way.

Pick-up

  • Pick up at the main entrance on Owens Street.
  • A separate email covers the full pick-up protocol.

Parking

  • No double parking at drop-off or pick-up. The site has limited parking.
  • The staff lot is for faculty. Families park outside it.
  • Walking your child in? Park off the lot. A car left there blocks emergency vehicles.

SFMTA finished safety work around the school before opening: traffic calming, protected bike lane upgrades, lower speed limits and high-visibility crosswalks. (Source: SFUSD)

Meals

Breakfast, Lunch and Snack

Breakfast and lunch are free for every child, every day.

TK and Kindergarten

Breakfast: 7:30 – 7:50am in the Multipurpose Room

Lunch: 11:15am

Pre-K

Breakfast: In classrooms

Lunch: 11:30am

Send a healthy snack from home. Classroom snack donations are welcome, so ask your child's teacher.

Uneaten food goes home at the end of the day so you can see what your child ate.

Safety rule, not a preference

Mission Bay is a nut-free school.

Students here have life-threatening nut allergies, so the nut-free rule is taken seriously. Remind your child not to share food with anyone.

Also please keep at home:

  • Soda, juice, and other sugary drinks
  • Chips
  • Candy and cookies

The backpack

What Comes and What Stays

Comes to school

  • A backpack that travels between home and school
  • A jacket, hoodie, or sweatshirt for changeable weather. There is no uniform.
  • A water bottle with your child's name on it
  • A positive attitude and a smile

Label everything: jackets, sweaters, lunch containers, bottles. Labelled things find their way home.

Stays home

  • Toys, which are easy to lose and hard to focus around
  • Card games, including Uno, Pokémon, Magic the Gathering, and Dungeons & Dragons
  • Balls and recess equipment. Each recess has its own equipment so every child gets a turn.

If getting any of this is hard right now, the school can help. Ask.

After-school care runs on site through TELHI. See After School. The two forms every family fills in are on Forms.
